Likely to Include Stacked Rear Camera Sensor Design in Apple iPhone 16 Series: Every Detail

The iPhone 16 series will allegedly use a stacked back camera sensor configuration in 2019, according to the Cupertino-based tech giant Apple.

The entry-level iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models of this year are anticipated to have a 48MP rear camera lens with a stacked CMOS image sensor (CIS) architecture that can catch more light, according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-114508″ src=”×423.jpg” alt=”” width=”1479″ height=”834″ srcset=”×423.jpg 750w,×577.jpg 1024w,×433.jpg 768w,×865.jpg 1536w,×220.jpg 390w,×85.jpg 150w, 1626w” sizes=”(max-width: 1479px) 100vw, 1479px” />

Apple probably limited the usage of the new sensor architecture this year to a few iPhone 15 models due to production concerns. Despite limited capacity until 2024, Apple has been able to acquire the majority of Sony’s orders for the high-end CIS in advance.

According to Kuo, Sony’s limited capacity is anticipated to work in competitor supplier Will Semi’s favor, who will get more orders from Chinese smartphone makers for high-end CIS as a consequence. According to rumors, the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 48MP wide-angle camera will include an eight-part hybrid lens with two glass elements and six plastic components, as well as upgrades for the telephoto and ultra-wide camera lenses.

Periscope telephoto lenses could be available for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in 2024. Due Apple size restrictions, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the only smartphone in 2023 to utilise the new camera technology.

In related news, rumors suggest that the September 13—a Wednesday—announcement of the next Apple iPhone 15 series. It would be fascinating to see whether the final date does in fact occur on a Wednesday because Apple often chooses a Monday or Tuesday as the launch day for iPhones.

As Apple switches from its proprietary lightning connection to USB C for charging, the new iPhone 15 series is already proving to be a substantial boost for the company. The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and Pro Max are anticipated to be included in the new range.
