Throughout the tournament, the 23-year-old Indian shuttler demonstrated tremendous technique and exceptional fitness. In the semifinals, Kiran, who has made a name for himself as a star performer on the BWF World Tour, defeated Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia in a three-setter match.

It is important to take advantage of these opportunities and perform effectively every time out. I’m happy with him, even if there are other young, talented players, said Vimal Kumar, the director of the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA) and a former main national coach, to PTI.

“At this point, he should continue his preparations for his trip to Hong Kong rather than take a break. Since he has nothing to lose, he ought to try to cause controversy.

Kiran George, who trains at PPBA in Bangalore, started the match 1-4 down but eventually came up to Takahashi at 8-8 and took the lead by two points at the half. After a close battle, the Indian quickly took the lead, 18–15.

Takahashi gradually closed the gap to 19–20 before the Indian won the first game.

After the change of sides, the duo once again engaged in a close battle, moving together till 6-6 when Kiran slowly managed to move away 16-11. However, Takahashi continued to breathe down his neck and was able to draw a 19-19 tie.

Kiran lost his first game point, but he remained calm and converted his second one.

The world No. 50 Kiran beat veteran Tommy Sugiarto 23-21, 16-21, 21-8 on the way to the final after earlier defeating Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul of Thailand, Takuma Obayashi of Japan, Jia Wei Joel Koh of Singapore, and Huang Yu Kai of Chinese Taipei.

He has been performing well for some time, and I believe Kiran and Mithun are the players to watch moving forward. They needed to achieve a breakthrough by defeating top competitors, and it is encouraging that they are succeeding, according to Vimal.

“I feel once the seniors like HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth go out, they can be replaced by them.”

The son of a former national champion, George Thomas, Kiran won the Polish Open and the Odisha Open last year while placing second at the Denmark Masters. Kiran, who attained a career-high ranking of No. 43 in January of this year, displayed his talent by winning the Thailand Open in May-June against top Chinese competitors Shi Yuqi and Weng Hongyang.
